ETABCS - Meetings and Activities

Monthly Meetings

Regular meetings are held on the Third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room at Shoney's Restaurant, 5420 Clinton Hwy. (U.S. Hwy. 25W, northwest Knoxville), Knoxville. Click here for a map and driving directions. Many members arrive around 6:00 p.m. and order meals prior to the meeting.

Meetings generally follow this format:

Brief business, including officer and committee reports
Discussion of upcoming regional shows and other activities of interest to members
Questions/answers about collectibles
"Show and Tell" - share your amazing finds and stories with other collectors
"Stump the Club" - members bring unusual items for other members to guess the purpose
Guest speaker most months

Some months we hold special events, such as auctions where members bring items to sell. Following is a list of upcoming meeting topics:

January 17, 2006 -- Collectibles trivia competition.
February 21, 2006 -- Doris Martinson, head of the Knox County Archives, will provide us information about valuing, conserving, and preserving ephemera and photographs.
March 21, 2006 -- Jane Crowley will talk about collecting postcards and other photos of Tennessee Courthouses.

September 19, 2006 -- Members'-only auction (informal). Members bring items they wish to auction to the group; value at least $10; sale is member-to-member; limited to two (2) for-sale items per member.

December 19, 2006 -- Annual Christmas Party and Fund-raising Auction
